Birkhäuser to distribute the digitalised archive of Le CorbusierWith immediate effect Birkhäuser – in cooperation with the Fondation Le Corbusier and the Franco-Japanese publishing house Codex Images International – will market the plans of Le Corbusier documented on a series of DVDs. Le Corbusier left a legacy of 35.000 plans, sketches and studies for more than 300 projects which are archived by the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris. Codex Images International undertook the digitalising of the foundation’s entire corpus of documents in a three year process. All the buildings Le Corbusier planned are illustrated and supplemented with comments by leading international experts. The realised projects are richly illustrated with acc
ompanying photographs. Birkhäuser will undertake the international distribution of this unique digital archive. The first part, with Le Corbusier’s works from the period 1905 -1930, is now available, on the fortieth anniversary of his passing away in 1965. Altogether the edition will consist of a total of 17 DVDs in four slipcases and be completed by the end of 2006.
