“Panel of experts appointed for the logo competition
Eleven of the most renowned design experts in the European Union have agreed to be on the first panel that will select the ten most convincing logos for the EU's 50th anniversary:

Prof. Kristjan MÄNDMAA, Eesti Kunstiakadeemia, Lecturer in communication design, Estonia
Prof. Riitta BRUSILA, Chairman Grafia – Association of Professional Graphic Designers, Finland
Ms. Sylvie BARRAU, Director of Communication, Agence Anatome, France
Prof. Erik SPIEKERMANN, Founder of Meta Design, Designer at United Designers, Germany
Mr. Tony MALONE, Founding partner of Design for Diversity, UK
Ms. Annelys DE VET, Designer, Lecturer at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Netherlands
Prof. Artur FRANKOWSKI, Professor at the Arts Academy Krakow, Poland
Prof. Jordi MONTAÑA, Professor, Department of Marketing Management Chair of ESADE Design Management, Spain
Prof. Stefan LENGYEL, Lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest, Hungary
Mr Thomas SABEL, Creative director of MTV Networks, Central Europe
The panel of experts will meet in Brussels on October 9.
After the panel has made its decision, the 10 selected logos will be tested in a focus group before the final jury meets on October 17 to select the three best logos. One of these three will be the winning logo and become the visual symbol for EU's 50th anniversary next year. The winning logo will be used by all European institutions in activities and events related to the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.
The final jury will be co-chaired by Commission Vice-President Margot Wallström and European Parliament Vice-President Alejo Vidal-Quadras. The other three members of the final jury are Mr Hans Brunmayr, Director General of Press, Communication and Protocol in the Council, Mrs. Jillian van Turnhout, Vice-President of the Various Interests Group of the European Economic and Social Committee and Mr Luc van den Brande, first Vice-President of the Committee of the Regions.
The award ceremony will take place in Brussels on October 17”.
